AK Bayonet Frogs & Straps
Please Read This BEFORE ORDERING:
I am currently taking care of my mother, who has severe Dementia / Alzheimer's, and as such, I am only home (where a I can actually make my frog sets) about one day out of every week. This means if you don't have a lot of patience to wait for your frog set, then please don't order any until I remove this red notice. When this red notice is no longer on this page, it means I have admitted my mom to a care facility and am able to work full time on everyone's orders. If you care to order a frog set or two, by all means do so, but just remember I will have to put you in order that I receive your payment and will make frogs according to the orders as they come in. Thank you for understanding....
All frog sets are based on East German metal components (as seen below). East German sets (DDR) are characterized by a large D-ring and cotton web wrist strap. DDR sets are normally colored with a "medium gray" dye on the leather and the cotton strap is also gray, though some rare sets are light medium brown leather with a matching leather strap.
Here are the sets that I have made in the past and available for purchase, though they may not be "in stock" at the time you order them.

Some original Russian frogs had black leather. Whether this was done in times of shortage of the brown pebble grain leather or was an arsenal refurb is unknown, they are nonetheless duplicates of originals found on Russian bayonets. NOTE - these frogs are normally built with the small D ring [a new feature] and matt chrome style metal hardware. If you do want the hardware blued, add $10 to the price of this set and MAKE SURE I KNOW WHAT YOU WANT. This set will then come with the flat D ring and blued hardware, which was used as a replacement, from the arsenals that produced them.
Bulgarian
This may look black, but it is very dark brown

Bulgarian small D ring (round) dark brown frog set. This set does NOT come with the
flat D-ring, but it can be added as an option to the Bulgarian set if you do not
want the small round D ring.

NOTE - The original and correct "frog" that came with some Chinese bayonets is a small metal belt clip that is polished chrome. These clips are "hyper" rare and if you have one, count yourself lucky. I have two of the clips, one chrome plated and the other one blued. YES, I'm trying to make you jealous!!! hehehehe "But, after 4+ yrs of collecting bayonets, you only have 2 clips??" Yes, they really are hyper rare!! The above frog sets are the culmination of wants and suggestions from other collectors and re-enactors for "something" to put on their Chinese bayonets to make them functional other than carrying them in a back pocket. They are not, nor do they purport to be duplicates of any originals.

A brown leather frog with small D ring was used on some East German type 1 bayonets,
as to the reason why they used this color (special unit or maybe a special assignment),
is still unknown

Light brown to med tan leather Belt Loop with blued metal hardware and

Egyptian
Medium brown leather Belt Loop with blued metal hardware and dark green strap

This one is much darker and does not have the leather pressed stripes on each side
of the straps. We've seen this type of hanger on Egyptian bayonets and are probably
field replacements, though they still look mighty good on the brown Egyptians.
(This model WILL come with a blued wrist strap "clip" even though the above
picture shows a chromed clip)
Hungarian
Light brown/dark tan leather Belt Loop with D-ring and two hollow backed rivets

Light yellowish tan leather with a greenish/bluish wrist strap

These frog sets are almost identical to the Yugoslavian frogs except the Iraqi frogs are
made with flat rivets, rather than round head rivets. Both the Iraqi strap (not shown) and
the Yugoslavian frogs sets come with the same bluish/green cotton strap (see Yugo set).

NOTE - the picture seems to show that the wrist strap rivet is dark colored. It is NOT dark and will be the same as all other wrist strap rivets, which are silver in color.
This is a Yugoslavian frog set with light yellowish tan leather and a bluish/green cotton wrist strap with a brass colored thorn. Though I have seen and have pictures of the same bayonet with VERY dark brown to Black leather with matching leather wrist strap. So with that in mind, we are offering either the light leather or black leather.

Specialty Frogs
AK-47 1st pattern (Bulgarian type)
1958 & 1970 1st pattern Polish type
The below photos show the cotton hanger and leather strap that are now available for
the Bulgarian, North Korean & Russian 1st pattern scabbards. All cotton straps will
be riveted together, along with the leather retainer straps. If you want them sewn
together, an additional $10 charge will be added. Also, you must send me your scabbard
to add these hangers. There is no way to make the hangers and simply send them, other
than to build the hangers ON the scabbards.

This OD colored hanger and med brown leather strap were added to a North Korean
scabbard for a friend in Arizona. The price difference above is for the attachment
of the retainer strap. Either way, the web portion of the hanger WILL be sewn.
This hanger is a 1958 or 1970 pattern Polish belt loop. The originals are almost
impossible to find, but since their design is basic and simple, they are fairly easy
to duplicate, though also time consuming. And, though this is an AK-47 pattern frog,
it does NOT have to be built "on the hanger" as the other 47' patterns do. If you have
a Polish 1st pattern bayonet and scabbard and need the hanger, give me a call...
NOTE - a number of the 1956 and 1957 Polish fighting knives also use this same
pattern of hanger but the wrist retainer strap is longer. IF you plan to use this on a
fighting knive, PLEASE let me know so I can lengthen the retainer strap accordingly.

This was our prototype for the Polish 47 scabbard, and since it came out so well,
nothing was changed and they are now available for ordering. The dark end on
the center retainer band was from the oil on the scabbard. Yours will not have this.
GENERAL INFO
All of the frogs on this page have been made from real life frog sets and pictures from other collectors. If you would like to have something different from the above coloring, please let me know. I am always willing to help you get what you want as I know how much some of the bayonets cost that these frog set are going on. So, if you want something of a certain color, send me a picture of what you have in mind and I can "try**" and match it.
The above frogs are made with hollow backed rivets. If you would like to have them made with solid backed rivets, please make sure to tell me that before I make them. If you contact me and want different rivets and the frog has already been made, then a "re-rivet" charge of $5 will be assessed and this payment must be received before the item will be shipping.
All frog sets can be treated with a leather preservative to help the leather retain its' pliability, so it won't tear or crack under normal use, but it will make the leather a darker shade and once put on, it can't be removed. If you want the preservative, it is an additional charge of $2. I suggest you buy a small bottle of Neetsfoot Oil and apply the oil (sparingly) once a year to keep the frog and/or strap in good shape, as it does the same thing as the preservative. NOTE - on lighter colored leather, if too much Neetsfoot Oil is used, the oil will darken the leather, with the possibility that the leather will stay dark permanently. So, please, use it sparingly!!!! And, DO NOT oil the cotton straps. If you do, the oil will ruin and stain the cotton, but I would be "more than happy" to sell you another strap when your excuse turns out to be, "I did it because Aliens abducted me and stole my brain!!!"

- Russian EARLY Full Sets / Flat D-ring / Blued Harware - very early Tula and Izhevsk bayonets had these as frog sets. Normal frog sets are outlined below. Set includes frog and strap and are 26.95 per set (due to the necessity of having to blue the hardware, coupled with making the flat D ring). Price includes mailing (USA only - Worldwide shipping available)
- Russian Izhevsk (Izhmash) Full Sets - set includes frog and strap and are 21.95 per set (due to the necessity of having to laminate/glue two pieces of leather together for the simulated pebble grain). Price includes mailing (USA only - Worldwide shipping available)
- Russian Tula frog sets - the Russian Tula frog set is a normal plain leather frog with either a matching leather wrist strap or an olive cotton wrist strap. These frog sets are $15.95. If you order a Tula frog set, you MUST TELL ME which type of wrist strap you would prefer or an olive cotton strap will be sent as the default wrist strap.
- Russian 83/85 (type3) Frog - includes the frog only and are 12.95 per frog (due to necessity of crinkling the leather for a simulated crossing pattern grain). Price includes mailing (USA only - Worldwide shipping available)
- 1947 1st Pattern Hanger - this frog set MUST be built on the scabbard, so to order this, you must send me the scabbard on which the hanger will go. Shipping cost of sending the scabbard to me is your responsibility. These hangers are $20.95 for a riveted model and $25.95 for a sewn pattern model. Price includes INSURED mailing for the return trip. (USA only - SORRY, but there is NO worldwide shipping available on this item)
- Frogs only & Russian M83/85 - only the frog (all colors with or without lines) are $12.95 per item. Price includes mailing (USA only - Worldwide shipping available) NOTE - Russian full frog sets are only available as outlined above
- Hand Retainer Straps only - the straps (leather or cotton) are $9.95 per item. [denotes price increase] Price includes mailing (USA only - Worldwide shipping available) If you don't need the modified D ring that holds/attaches the wrist strap to the bayonet, then you may deduct $2.00, for a $7.95 total on this item. NOTE - I do not make the double D ring wrist straps such as found on Romanian and Hungarian type1 bayonets since I do not have a source for the smaller or second D ring.

- The small or flat D ring- the small or flat D ring can be ordered with any frog set for an additional $5. You MUST tell me AT TIME OF ORDER if you want either a small D ring or the flat D ring on your frog set. Some frog sets automatically come with the small D ring and are priced accordingly. But, if you want the flat D ring, I need to know before I start work on your frog set.
SPECIAL DISCOUNT - If you need a new frog set due to your current frog set suffering from rotting leather, missing rivets, torn leather, etc., I can offer you the following discount:
$5.00 off, on a full set, if you send me the metal hardware from your current frog set. To qualify for this discount, the frog set must contain the metal clip (which clips the frog to the scabbard), D-ring and metal U shaped frog base piece, along with the metal wrist strap (modified) D-ring.
If you don't have a full set to send in, I can allow $1.10 off if you have the wrist strap modified D ring and you keep it so I don't have to send you one, or I can allow a $3.90 discount if you send me your current frog (frog consists of U shaped metal base, D ring and scabbard clip). Too, I need a picture sent to me before any discount will be offered. If you have something other than these parts, then send me a picture of what you do have, and I can let you know what level of discount I can give you. The discount applies to any country's old AK frog sets, whether it be Hungary, Russia, Poland, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Romania, etc. So, if you have something that looks like these (below) they could help lower the cost of your new frog set. Just let me know "ahead of time" so I know a used frog set is being sent and from whom. Also, I will pay for, as a discount on your purchase price, up to $1.50 for you to mail the frog set to me. I recommend using First Class Mail to keep the price down.
And yes, I know it sounds a little crazy to want your old stuff, but all these metal parts don't grow on trees, and some of them simply aren't made any more. So, for other collectors and future frog sets, PLEASE don't just throw away your old metal parts - no matter what they are!! In fact, even if you don't need a new frog set and just have some old parts laying around, as in the above pictures, e-mail me and you will most likely be receiving some money real soon!!!

SHIPPING
First - the included mailing does not include shipping insurance. If you would like to have shipping insurance (and I recommend it), then please add $1.50 (USA only) to the order price. Final order prices that are more than $49.99 will require additional insurance coverage. All shipping (per single frog set or item) will be via First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation included. Frog sets will be shipped within 14 days of receiving a *completed* payment. If you are ordering a frog set and paying with Paypal, the act of initiating the Paypal payment for the frog set or any item on this page is your IMPLIED WAIVER of Paypal's 10 day shipping requirement. First class mail normally takes about 4 to 5 days (most of the time, less) to arrive at its' destination, though items mailed to Alaska or Hawaii may take longer. Too, Alaska and Hawaii items may need additional postage, and if they do, I will contact you and let you know. If you need an actual invoice, then I will type one up and save it as a .pdf file and e-mail it to you.
In any event, if you haven't received your frog set within 30 days from the date that your payment clears (or was received by us), please contact us to see if there was a problem of some sort. If your frog set has been shipped and you still haven't received it within 30 of shipping, we can direct you to the proper US Mail web site page to begin a search for it and fill out the proper forms to get re-imbursed for your purchase amount - provided you had previously paid for shipping insurance. We are not and can not be responsible for lost, misdirected or damaged mail once we deliver the item and its' container to the Post Office. Shipping containers may be bubble padded envelopes or small boxes.
COLOR MATCHING & Sales
I am not a large corporation that mixes 5000 gallons of dye each day. I make these frog and straps one at a time since I enjoy making them, and like the fact the I'm giving pleasure to the ones that are purchasing them and I cannot guarantee that each "individual" set will match the next. These bayonet accessories are sold "as is" and are not guaranteed as far as color or color matching are concerned. All sales are final. If the frog has a defect, I will take it back (shipping the item back to me is the buyer's responsibility), repair the defect and then mail it back to you. I will NOT and CANNOT re-stock the set as I do not have any stock to begin with. So, if buyer's remorse sets in after the order is placed and "before" any work has started, I will refund your money. But, if I have already started work on your order and you change your mind, then you'll just have to live with your remorse. I don't play games and I expect not to have games played on me, either. If you order a set, I will expect you to live up to your word and carry through with the transaction. All items are made after the order is placed. Since these are "hand made" items and built with the intention of being a visual and complementary accessory, rather than a every day use and/or pseudo military item, I cannot and will not be held responsible or liable for any consequential damage that comes from owning, possessing or using of these items.
