     On this page, we still retain the drop down boxes but as you can see, they are beginning to take on the look of an actual ordering page.

     What a little window dressing won't do ...... we have a new view cart button at the top of the page, a nicely laid out table design with a small blue & green gif to high-light the product name and also an "Add to Cart" button which is now an icon/picture type of submit button rather than the old gray "been there, done that" type of submit button.
     Also, notice that these pages, while still retaining the basic look of our site, are now devoid of the javascript link buttons running along the left side of the screen.  This is done for three (3) reasons:

  • Now that you have your potential customer actually viewing one of your ordering pages, you certainly don't want to provide any distractions which would draw the customer to another part of your site, and;
  • It gives you the opportunity to present as much information about your product to the customer.  This will help convince them that your product is the correct one to purchase, and;
  • The page is less cluttered so products stand out better ( as in the javascript button scenario above ), along with the fact that the shopping cart program is better able to lay out the actual design of the cart itself when it comes to actually purchasing a product.  This will become more evident on the next page if you haven't already given the previous one, or this one, a quick try out.
     In the fast paced world of today, the first thing a customer views is the page layout.  If the page doesn't appeal to them asthetically and they end up leaving, they may never know how great of a product your trying to sell ..... nor will they stick around to purchase anything either.  And isn't that the name of the game and the reason you have a shopping cart.....

     Not convinced yet??  I wouldn't be either !!!!!  So let's get to our third (3rd) page to see what HTMLSiteDesign has in store for you ( sorry for the pun ).....
