Month in at City of Port Adelaide Enfield and the workshopping has begun - games and all, starting with draw the standard pig. A great icebreaker for getting a group of people you don't know to go through the stages of drawing a standard pig, also a very important lesson on how we all disseminate information differently, and more. Can I nerd out about an older game that didn't get the hype it deserved? Is this the place?Savage Skies is a PS2 Flight simulator giving players the chance to serve as riders on large, mythical monsters to do battle in the air. The game was originally intended as a licensing tie in game endorsed by the one and only Ozzy Osbourne himself, but licensing complications and a tragically famous terror attack in the United States caused real complications. In the end, the game had its flaws in graphics and difficulty, but it did such a fantastic job of selling the fantasy of riding large, mythical beasts into glorious combat serving the interests of one of several factions. 6 Degrees of Freedom is hard to make fun, but recent successes in the games industry shows it can be done! Savage Skies js one of the few games that I played to 100% completion, and I can count those games on my fingers.The game featured a robust story mode featuring 3 factions, hidden levels that unlocked secret beasts, and multiplayer modes for players to go head to head in open arenas. The game received a 6.5 on Metacritic, with comments about low graphics, excessive difficulty, and sound issues. The game suffered from some very impactful setbacks, releasing short of the original vision. Like any game designer, I have several different game designs I hope to one day release. One is a modern take on Savage Skies for a modern audience, giving it the design and attention it deserves. Riding mythical beasts into glorious battle is just too fun to not want to do! The game doesn't need to be a huge commercial success, but designing flying monsters for different factions aesthetics would be such a fun project. Have you played this underrated gem? Do you know another gem people sleep on?

SO, after many months of umming and arring, I finally went and purchased #ManorLords, an indie title that I've had on my Wishlist for years, and I am already in love with this game 😍. I've always loved grand strategy & RTS games, with Medieval 2: #TotalWar, #AgeOfMythology, Mount & Blade: #Bannerlord & Rise Of Nations being some of my favourites over the years. I have also always loved games with a focus on base/area building, with #Valheim & #Rust both being up there. This game, almost seamlessly, combines my favourite aspects of all of them ⚒ 🌳.The game itself is beautiful with both the building and foliage models being awesome, especially with the procedural randomizing of your citizen's houses etc. The building mechanics are also so pleasing to use, allowing you to be as creative as you want, without losing the natural beauty of the land your village feeling too square. 🌆 I also love the resource snowball capping that comes with having a higher population and growth, meaning you never lose the need to stay on top of your villagers. 👨🌾 I spent 2 hours on the game yesterday and I'm utterly hooked, which is rare for me. Who else has played this masterpiece and, dare I say it, are there any other games out there with a similar vibe that I can check out once I've sunk 1000 hours into it?(Disclaimer, this isn't my village it's a screenshot from Google, but you get the idea 🏡)
