Knowing how the human brain works can help you engage your audience as a presenter or trainer. In my in-person and virtual classes, my learners spend several hours with me and they feel like time just passed by. They were so engaged and amazed by all the techniques and tricks that I've used in the class. If you like to deliver great training or presentations, you need to understand the Three parts of the Brain also called the Triune Brain.💎 The brainstem or the sub cortex is also called a survival brain and is responsible for things we do unconsciously, like breathing, digesting food, as well as feeling flight or fright. 💎 The limbic system sits on top of the brainstem and is in control of memory. Emotions and motivations. 💎 On top of the brainstem is what I call the thinking gap, or the neocortex, which controls all advanced cognition like logic, motion reading and writing. For learning to happen, the learning needs to reach the neocortex.🔥 If your learner is feeling too hot, or cold, or if they need a break, the survival brain gets activated. No matter what the trainer is teaching or the presenter is presenting, it does not reach the neocortex. In order to prevent this from happening, the trainer needs to ensure to engage all learners in moving like breathing, moving hands or talking. 🔥 Second, they should form connections between the learner with each other and with the topic. Early connections with learners help form new relationships and connection to the topic makes the learner feel at ease with the topic that they will be taught. 🔥 Third, the trainer should use inclusive language even when the learner is wrong or is disruptive. The trainer should ask what are certain opportunities to help them or ask the class for other answers that will help the learner.Sharing my new video on the Triune Brain and the six brain science principles from Sharon Bowman's #trainingfromthebackoftheroom #instructionaldesign If you find this video valuable subscribe to my YouTube channel at https://lnkd.in/e4zQjzss where you will find great mini courses on scrum, product management and designing great training

After watching the TEDx talk "Brain Hack: 6 secrets to learning faster, backed by neuroscience," I realized these insights are essential for the success of Learning & Development activities in the workplace. Here are three things I think we should take from it to boost L&D effectiveness:🎯 Focus:while short sessions and microlearning are popular, it's crucial to question if participantsare genuinely immersedin the learning process. We must create distraction-free learning environments to ensuredeepprocessing of new information. One effective method could be the establishment of 'focus blocks' where electronic interruptions are strictly prohibited.🛑 Take breaks:integrate short breaks after intensive training sessions to enhance information consolidation. Don't dive back into work; your brain needs time to process and store the new information.❌ Embrace mistakes:fostering a culture where mistakes are seen as valuable learning opportunities is vital. This mindset shift encourages experimentation and paves the way for continuous improvement. In my opinion, applying these neuroscience-backed strategies to L&D activities can significantly enhance the learning outcomes and engagement in your organization's L&D programs.
